Saturday 28th February 2009 saw the Orbies gather for a social soiree at the home of one of our members. Built on what was once part of an old manorial estate near Wrexham in north Wales, our Orbie has long suspected that the house is 'active' and has picked up a few EVPs there in the past. After a great supper, talk turned to matters spiritual and it wasn't long before our medium Dave began to pick up on an unseen presence which had slipped in amongst us - a very powerful presence which wasn't at all happy to have ghost hunters and 'witches' on his land....

Dave had picked up on the malevolent figure of George Jeffreys, better known to history as Judge Jeffreys, the Hanging Judge. Jeffreys was born at Acton Park, Wrexham, and the property in which we had gathered stands bang on top of a series of old farm cottages which had once been part of the Jeffreys' Acton Estate. Infamous for having sent hundreds to their deaths in a reign of terror during the late 17th century, Dave explained that this presence was not merely evil but something even beyond that, Jeffreys was malevolent. Angry that he no longer had any power or influence or even any energy to speak of, Jeffreys anger was directed at Jenna and Julie, our two wiccans, and manifested itself as spots of black energy around them. Dave explained that in Jeffreys day, he would have seen them both hanged, even our open minded Technical Advisor Keith did not escape the attentions of The Hanging Judge who deemed him guilty by association.
Dave went on to say that this dark soul had an elder brother, who was associated with the King of Spain. Our research was later able to confirm that Jeffreys did indeed have an elder brother - Thomas Jeffreys - who was appointed British Consul to Spain....please see below for a resume of the communication from Jeffreys as recalled by Dave himself...
