Caergwrle Castle was built by Dafydd ap Gruffydd, (the erstwhile brother of Llewellyn ap Gruffydd the last native Prince of Wales) in 1277 on land which he had been granted as a reward for his services to King Edward I (Longshanks) of England.  The castle was never actually completed and Dafydd's somewhat fickle nature later led him into rebellion against England and ultimately to a grisly execution in the market place at Shrewsbury in 1283.  Abandoned by Dafydd, Caergwrle Castle reverted to the English crown and Edward subsequently granted it to his Queen, the beautiful Eleanor of Castile.  A major fire at the castle endangered the lives of both Edward and Eleanor a short while later, the damage was extensive and the castle never truly repaired.

The Orb Whisperers staggered up the hill to Caergwrle Castle (it IS quite a climb!) in July 2008, and captured the images below.

Spirit orbs at Caergwrle

The image above is taken looking towards the ruined Keep.  It was quiet up at the castle initially, with nothing showing up on any of the images which we were taking until this sudden 'orb shower' where a number of anomalies were detected.

Again looking towards the ruined Keep of Caergwrle Castle, 5 orbs appeared quite suddenly and were captured in this image.

 Above, 2 faint orbs appear.

This anomaly was captured shooting across the grass within the castle itself in what would have been the old courtyard.

A light anomaly is captured above and to the left of the ruined Keep.  The two white spots to the right of the image atop the Keep wall are flowers!

Another light anomaly is captured in this image, again hovering just above and to the left of the Keep.
